The Society of Women in Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University
The Society of Women in Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University is committed to the recruitment, retention, support, and professional development of all women associated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Northwestern University. We are comprised of undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty members who support one another in addressing the unique challenges faced by underrepresented groups in general and women in particular within the field of physics and astronomy.
Our activities include formal and informal gatherings aimed at developing a sense of community and belonging, building relationships with mentors within and beyond our department, and raising awareness about issues confronting women in physics and astronomy.
For undergraduates looking to connect with women and non-binary students, please visit our WIP site.
