QUEST Postdoctoral Position

Postdoctoral Positions in Theoretical Quantum Information at Northwestern

Quantum Engineering Science and Technology (QUEST) group at Northwestern University invites applications for two postdoctoral positions in theory and phenomenology of quantum information processing. These positions are for a minimum of two years with several possibilities of extensions, and come with competitive salary and benefits. Selected candidate is expected to start their appointment in summer 2024, though some flexibility in start date maybe accommodated.

While background in open quantum systems, quantum optics and/or superconducting quantum device theory is highly desirable, we strongly encourage applications from promising candidates across a broad spectrum of fields, such as quantum field theory, high-energy physics, computer science, mathematics and/or AMO physics. The postdocs will be a part of a growing and vibrant group of researchers working on a diverse range of topics such as engineered open systems and error correction, high-fidelity qubit control and readout, nonlinear quantum optics and metamaterials, and dissipative dynamics of complex systems. In addition, we have close ties with leading experimental groups in superconducting quantum circuits, spanning academia, industry and national labs.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in physics, computer science, mathematics or a related engineering or science discipline obtained within the last five years, and research experience as demonstrated by technical publications and/or presentations. The positions are open to US citizens, permanent residents and international applicants.

Applications should include
(i) cover letter
(ii) a detailed CV including a list of publications,
(iii) (at least) two letters of reference
(iv) optional documents: brief statement of research interests, significant reprints of papers etc.

Interested applicants should mail all their application material to archana.kamal@northwestern.edu

Initial review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, completed applications should be received by March 31, 2024.
