Yuanzhao Zhang Wins APS Dissertation Award

Yuanzhao Zhang, a recent Physics and Astronomy PhD graduate, has received the 2021 APS Dissertation Award in Statistical and Nonlinear Physics. The award, one of the highest honors for physics PhD thesis work, recognizes “exceptional early-career scientists who have performed original doctoral thesis work of outstanding scientific quality in statistical and nonlinear physics.”
Dr. Zhang was recognized with the award for his “outstanding doctoral thesis that advances our understanding of emergent collective behavior and symmetry phenomena in heterogeneous network systems.”
Dr. Zhang received his PhD from the Department of Physics and Astronomy in August of 2020 under the direction of his advisor, Professor Adilson Motter.
