Monica Gallegos Garcia Selected as 2022 Edward Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Inductee

Graduate student Monica Gallegos Garcia has been selected as a 2022 Edward Bouchet Graduate Honor Society Inductee!
This prestigious honor society is named after Edward Bouchet, the first African American doctoral recipient in the United States. The Edward Alexander Bouchet Graduate Honor Society (Bouchet Society) recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and promotes diversity and excellence in doctoral education and the professoriate.
This is the first time that a student from Physics and Astronomy has been selected. Edward Bouchet was a physicist who obtained his PhD from Yale in 1876. Monica is studying astrophysics with Vicky Kalogera and is a winner of the Ford Foundation Fellowship.
