Brian Odom Wins APS Fundamental Physics Innovation Award

October 13, 2021

The award, funded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, hopes to “stimulate ideas on innovative ways in which emerging technologies can be used to address pressing problems in fundamental physics” and “support a variety of ways to bring people together to discuss and collaborate on ideas to advance fundamental physics.”

Professor Odom will receive a Convening Award with the intention of examining “how atoms and molecules trapped inside cryogenic matrices can be optically pumped and probed” and “offer the potential for many orders of magnitude statistical gains over gas-phase experiments.”

Congratulations, Brian, on this fantastic achievement!
